Dancing with Sculpture, The Body in Motion!

On the evening of August 20th, 2009, I collaborated with dancer Caryl Sickul to produce a performance of four interpretations of my sculptures, Fly To It! and Voyager. Miss Sickul danced with the figures to four pieces of music, each of which stated a unique level of energy and expression of emotion. She confronted, mimicked and augmented the gestures of Fly To It! and Voyager.

In the last piece, left, I chose for Caryl to dance to Aaj Mera Jee Kardaa (Today My Heart Desires). This Indian piece of music, by Sukhwinder Singh, overflows with excitement and joy. It often inspires me to dance and explore movements for sculptures!

This performance was the first "Artist Gathering" to be hosted by the Sakonnet Arts Network.
